Geological Mapping and Site Characterization

Our team carries out detailed geological mapping and site characterization using field and office-based (digital) techniques. Field investigations include geological and geomorphological mapping, structural interpretation, and stratigraphic analysis.  Detailed geological surveys at scales from 1:1,000 to 1:500,000 and beyond.

Geohazard Assessment

We provide comprehensive geological hazard assessments including: active fault investigations, trenching, and paleoseismology; seismic source characterization for liquefaction and tsunami susceptibility mapping  and landslide and karstic terrain evaluations.

Fault studies

Evaluation of surface rupture hazards including detailed 3D fault displacement analysis to support fault-crossing design. Digital reconstruction of paleoseismic trenches.

Seismic Source Characterization

Seismic source characterization for probabilistic and deterministic seismic hazard analyses (PSHA and DSHA). We have developed seismic source models for critical infrastructure projects all over the globe. Our team has worked on several Senior Seismic Hazard Assessment Committee (SSHAC) projects in various roles including Seismic Source Characterization Team Lead and Team member. We have conducted Capable Fault Evaluations in support of the SSHAC process.

UAV Acquisition & Photogrammetry

We use UAVs and photogrammetry to collect detailed topographic and structural data. Using drone-based techniques,  we can document complex, inaccessible, locations or with repeated surveys monitor changing terrain and site conditions.

Remote Sensing & LiDAR

Interpretation of high-resolution satellite imagery and LiDAR data for structural geology and geomorphological analysis. We conduct preliminary hazard analysis through desktop studies to inform early project decisions for design teams.

2D and 3D Geological Models

Creation of geodatabases that incorporate multi-disciplinary data (e.g., borehole, geophysics, etc.) to develop engineering geology and structural models.

Alignment Studies

Multi-hazard assessments for linear infrastructure including terrain analysis and route optimization for onshore and offshore pipeline and seabed cable corridors.

Tsunami Hazard Assessment

We provide qualitative assessments of tsunami hazard based on existing data and literature. These studies help our clients understand exposure levels for sensitive coastal sites.

GIS FOR ArchivinG GEOSPATIAL DATA

We use GIS technologies to digitally preserve geological sites and outcrops. Through the development of in-house tools and embedded scripting, we enhance data processing efficiency, ensure robust, and fully reproducible digital workflows that support research activities and high-level engineering applications.
