GIS & Geohazard Toolboxes
Seven custom ArcGIS Pro tools built to cover the full geohazard and pipeline right-of-way workflow, from raw imagery to finished engineering deliverable.
- PipelineSideSlope — 14-tool ROW engineering suite: alignment sheets, crossing analysis, cut/fill zones, grading plans & precheck, terrain analysis, strip logs, automated reporting.
- Fault3DModeling — 21 tools across 5 toolsets: cross-section georeferencing, fault plane definition, 3D surface generation, scene visualization & intersection analysis, from control points or digitized sections.
- GeoRemoteSensing Toolbox — 25 tools: Landsat/Sentinel-2/ASTER/hyperspectral import, atmospheric & topographic correction, mineral and alteration detection (20+ reference spectra), landslide/flood/erosion hazard mapping, supervised & unsupervised classification — plus a dedicated Satellite-Derived Bathymetry (SDB) module (Stumpf log-ratio depth model, adaptive zoning, Gram-Schmidt pan-sharpening down to 10–15m).
- Morpho Analysis — automated geohazard detection pipeline: Perona–Malik anisotropic diffusion, multi-scale morphometric feature extraction (slope, curvature, openness, TPI, TWI), PCA fusion, CLI and ArcGIS Pro toolbox.
- Slope Triangulation Tool — rapid 3-point slope/dip/azimuth calculation from DEM triplets with interactive digitizing, built for PSHA field surveys.
- APRX Path Updater — standalone GUI to detect and repair broken data-source paths in ArcGIS Pro project files, with find/replace and safe save-as.
- ToolboxManager — C#/.NET Add-in for diagnosing and managing our own ArcGIS Pro toolbox assemblies.
Mobile Field Data Collection
GeoField is a native Android app built for field geologists, replacing the paper notebook end to end:
- Mission & point management — hierarchical field missions, GPS points captured via FusedLocationProvider with accuracy, altitude and category tagging.
- Structural & linear measurements — bedding, foliation, fault planes, joints and cleavage using the phone's own gyroscope and compass with automatic dip-direction/dip ↔ strike/dip conversion, plus trend/plunge and striae with movement sense.
- Photos & notes — multi-resolution photos with camera orientation metadata, plus typed, handwritten and voice notes.
- GIS data exchange — imports Shapefiles, georeferenced rasters and KML/KMZ directly on the phone; exports to CSV, GeoJSON, GPX, KML/KMZ, Shapefile and GeoPackage.
- Mission Report Builder — generates a structured visit report on-device, as PDF or editable Word: title, discussion, schematic map, one page per point with its photo and caption.
- Multi-device field sync — Bluetooth or Wi-Fi between a field phone and a tablet coordinator, with conflict resolution, entirely offline.
What sets it apart
- Ingests GIS layers directly on the phone — no desktop conversion step between the field and the map.
- One-tap mission report, built and exported on-device as PDF or Word, with no cloud service and no third-party PDF/Office library.
- Every mission is a self-contained, archivable unit — full export/restore independent of the report itself.
- Since we own the code, new field requirements ship in days, not license-renewal cycles.
IT & Data Automation
Four standalone utilities, each built to close a recurring operational gap:
- OFX Magic — converts any bank statement (CSV/XLSX/QIF) to OFX 1.x or 2.x, with format auto-detection and configurable column mapping.
- MariaDB Backup & Restore — NAS-to-NAS database backup/restore over SSH with custom ports and automatic Synology binary detection, full users/privileges/config export.
- ROW PDF Library — network scan, metadata extraction and ML-assisted thematic classification for a shared geoscience literature library, stored in MariaDB.
- OruxMaps Builder — converts large georeferenced images into offline OruxMaps SQLite maps tile-by-tile, avoiding the memory crashes of the official desktop tool.
Photogrammetry Pipeline
A GoPro/drone video-to-photogrammetry pipeline built around one tool:
- Frame Extractor — extracts frames at set intervals via FFmpeg, filters out blurry shots with OpenCV, runs single or batch across multiple videos organized by sector, with bulk renaming and a live processing log.
Satellite Ground Deformation Monitoring (InSAR)
IGEO Toolbox measures ground displacement to the millimeter per year from free Sentinel-1 radar imagery — no field instrumentation required.
- Automated acquisition & processing — downloads and processes multi-year radar image stacks (repeat passes every 6–12 days) on a GPU workstation.
- MT-InSAR (PSI / SBAS) — displacement velocity and time series, point by point, over years of acquisitions.
- DInSAR — single-pair differential interferometry for coseismic and other sudden-event displacement mapping.
- Ascending / descending decomposition — combines both viewing geometries to separate vertical motion from east-west motion.
What sets it apart
- Starts directly from a USGS earthquake event ID, auto-filling the area of interest and pre/post-event dates — a capability we haven't found in any other InSAR tool, open-source or commercial.
- Diagnoses each site and recommends the right method (point-target PSI vs. wide-area SBAS) instead of forcing one fixed technique.
- Coseismic mapping, long-term time series, and vertical/east-west decomposition in one guided tool — usually three separate, expert-only workflows.
Operational and already validated: on a first site it recovered a coastal subsidence signal matching published literature; a second site (Concepción, Chile) is being used to reproduce a published study before wider rollout.
Business Management Suite
The ROW Application Suite — nine applications sharing one MariaDB database behind a single launcher:
- Project Officer & Project Manager — create new projects with automatic folder structure, then track invoices, milestones and contracts.
- Activity Recorder — time tracking with CSV/Excel timesheet export.
- Invoice & Expense Manager — company invoices and employee expenses with live dashboards.
- Invoice Creator & Quote Builder — customer invoices from PDF templates; quotes with margin calculations.
- Cost Rate & Subcontractor Managers — salary/cost-rate calculations and subcontractor profiles & rates.
